Stay Cost Brain (staycostbrain.com, including its tools for AI assistants at staycostbrain.com/mcp and staycostbrain.com/api/v1/) is run by Jimi Walters. By using it you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.

What Stay Cost Brain is

A free information service about tourist and city taxes on overnight stays, with a calculator for your dates and links to search for places to stay. We are not a hotel, a booking site or a travel agent. Bookings, payments, cancellations and the stay itself are between you, the booking site and the accommodation, on their terms.

Figures

• Every tourist-tax figure comes from the tax authority's own pages, regulations or official gazette, with the date we checked it and a link to the source. We re-check on a schedule, but taxes change: the accommodation charges the amount in force when you stay.
• The calculator applies the published rules to the details you give. Where it can't know something (for example the star rating), it shows a range. Special exemptions (residents, medical stays, work trips and similar) are listed on each place's page but not worked out by the calculator.
• Room prices, availability and any other charges come from Stay22 and the booking sites, not from us.
• We work hard to be accurate but cannot promise every figure is complete or current.

AI assistants

Our tools for ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants return the same figures, with sources and dates, and a link where you can see live prices. They never book or pay for you. What an assistant says with our data is in the assistant's own words; check the figures and dates on our site before relying on them.

How we are paid

If you book through our links or the hotel map, Stay22 may pay us a commission. You pay the same price. Commission never changes a figure on this site. See how we earn.

Acceptable use

Use the service for your own trips and research. Don't overload it, get around its limits, or resell its data in bulk. Quoting our figures with a link to the place's page is welcome. We may limit or block automated use that harms the service.

Liability

The service is provided as it is, free of charge. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from a booking, an accommodation's or booking site's conduct, a change in a tax, or reliance on a figure. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
