How we earn

Last updated: 20 October 2026

Stay Cost Brain is free to use and has no adverts. It is paid for by booking links.

The links

The "See hotels" buttons on our pages and in the calculator open Stay22, a service that shows live prices and availability from booking sites such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda and Vrbo. If you then book, the booking site pays Stay22 a commission, and Stay22 shares part of it with us.

• It costs you nothing. You pay the booking site's normal price; the commission comes out of their side.
• It never changes our figures. Every tourist tax on this site comes from the authority's own pages, and the calculator works the same whether or not you click a link. No booking site pays to change what we publish.
• We don't pick hotels for money. The links open a search for the area and dates you chose, not a hotel we were paid to show.

What the link carries

Each link tells Stay22 the place, your dates and the number of guests, so the search opens ready. It also carries our affiliate ID and a label for which page you came from (for example "Lisbon page" or "calculator"), so we can see which pages help people. It carries nothing that identifies you. What happens on Stay22 and the booking site is covered by their own privacy policies.
